Osama bin Laden released a video, concerning certain Danish cartoons, of which showed an image of Muhammad (which is a no-no), throwing out threats of reprisal, etc. Not only were there riots, but a cartoonist was killed over it. Killed. That is barbarism. If you have a problem with something, be civilized about it; protest, write angry letters, boycott...

I'm not sure about Danish government, but I am certain that they have laws concerning freedom of speech and separation of church and state, both of which apply. Just as Christianity can't get involved in state affairs, neither should Islam. Or Buddhism. Or Hinduism, etc.

I mean, there are plenty of media (tv, internet, art) that can be considered to other groups; in the show South Park , God is portrayed as a hippo/cat/monkey hybrid (and is a Buddhist). I consider myself Christian (just not mainstream, bible-thumper), but I had no problem with this portrayal. I didn't burn effigies, threaten violence or behave as would an ape. Its called satire - South Park does this to just about everything. Get over it... [matter of fact, there was an episode the addressed this particular topic - "Cartoon Wars". Look it up on YouTube].

If one group can get upset an get some treatment, then all groups should get the same treatment.
